40th & Hurstmere

A complete reinvention of an unrentable and bland 1960’s block building. Part of the shopfront was removed and the site excavated to create a new urban lane. A sense of ambiguous history is evoked through the use of recycled bricks, raw concrete and a new façade that reinterprets both Art Deco and Victorian references.
